“…made a significant contribution to the successful turnaround that Jefferson accomplished.”

“Jefferson Regional Medical Center was experiencing significant operating losses from Fiscal 1999 through 2001. A new management team was hired during fiscal 2001 to improve the profitability of Jefferson. The management team sought a consultant who could review and improve the supply chain process of the organization. Stephen Tambolas joined the Jefferson Team during fiscal 2002.

He reviewed the entire supply chain process, developed a plan of corrective action and successfully implemented the plan. Steve made a significant contribution to the successful turnaround that Jefferson accomplished.” *

* SSCM5 editorial note: ongoing benchmarking documents that JRMC remains a leader in providing extremely high quality patient care while having one of the nations lowest supply cost per CMI adjusted discharge.

“…a fundamental change in culture relative to supply chain has been taking place.”

“After years of rising supply expense the Conemaugh Health System realized a rapid and significant reduction within just a few months of SSCM5’s application of their programs. For the first time in years our supply cost per adjusted discharge was reduced. So-called stretch targets are being achieved with a very positive budget impact. More importantly a fundamental change in culture relative to supply chain has been taking place. The entire organization is adopting the mantra that poor supply costs are not a problem, but rather a symptom of bad processes. Supply Chain is now being viewed in strategic terms on a system wide basis, as a core management function, and its leadership has joined the senior management team.

The supply chain staff, previously unknown to many in the organization, is now taking a proactive role with their internal and external clients and has become active participants of numerous projects including our pilot Lean Six Sigma rollout.

This was accomplished before we completed implementation of the entire program, which continues to be a matter of progress on a daily basis. The return on investment with SSCM5 is one of the fastest, and we believe to longest lasting, in the industry.”

“What we didn’t count on was (their) ability to successfully position our system on a pathway toward much more effective alignment of our Supply Chain organization, and influencing leadership and management to think more strategically in terms of Supply Chain principles.”

“Stephen Tambolas and SSCM5 inc. offered us an exceptional option for providing operational continuity during an extended period of recruiting for a Supply Chain leader. Our Director of Material Management retired shortly after the consolidation and merger of the 2 hospitals in our community. Our expectation was that Steve would be a stop gap measure to help us continue all supply chain operations at 2 busy community hospitals and at the same time help us to finish consolidation of all logistics and supply chain functions like material management, linen, distribution, courier and printing functions.

What we didn’t count on was (their) ability to successfully position our system on a pathway toward much more effective alignment of our Supply Chain organization, and influencing leadership and management to think more strategically in terms of Supply Chain principles. Essentially (they) helped us evolve from a traditional “box kicking” material management business to an organization where Supply Chain is now strategically ingrained throughout our organization. As an added bonus, ARHS was in the midst of planning the implementation of a consolidated IM system for all HR, Payroll, Finance and Material Management operations (conversion from 2 hospitals utilizing 2 different systems to one system using Lawson) and Steve provided us with the necessary expertise to make this very difficult transition. ”
