Custom Engagements based on client needs

A BRIEF OVERVIEW OF OUR FIVE STEP APPROACH TO CUSTOM SUPPLY CHAIN ENGAGEMENT

sscm
Executive Interview
First things first – We start with the Executive Interview where the client outlines their needs and the desired outcomes of an engagement. At this point we determine whether or not SSCM5 Inc. is a proper fit for the client. Our desire is to be a trusted long-term advisor, not just obtaining one-time sales.

Analysis

The necessary next step - Analysis starts with a review of all platforms and overlay processes. It is initiated through the remote collection of raw data provided by client personnel, followed by a series of onsite interviews with key personnel and direct observations of operations. An efficient use of both client and consultant time and resources is stressed.

Seasoned supply chain professionals perform all analysis. Attention is paid to subtle potential interactions and synergies. Unless a client limits an engagement to price-paid opportunities, primary focuses of the analysis are needed process improvements.

SSCM5 uses a proprietary model, S.P.A.C.E., using the core disciplines utilized by all firms with high performance supply chains.

Agreement
Where do we go from here - - The first deliverable is an executive report that maps current operations in contrast to industry best practices. An opportunity list, organized in order of potential benefits, with the estimated effort and the resources required to achieve the full benefits is the key product of this first phase.
An executive presentation of the report leads a discussion on the opportunities - illuminating the order is which they will be pursued, the implementation, and review timelines. Strict attention is paid to measures of success - what will make the client satisfied? This outlines the engagement.

Implementation
Changing future results with true continuous progress in pursuit of perfection - Implementation of remedial actions and/or re-engineered processes is performed in a manner that assures the client of ongoing and continuous operations improvement. A key attribute is the use of experienced, seasoned veterans of supply chain processes. SSCM5 only uses personnel who have actually worked with the recommended processes in prior accounts, or as line managers with process responsibility.

Review and Follow-up

Results assurance - Following implementation the consultant and client review status in relation to the established success measures. Reviews may be scheduled for repetition over time. Each review is documented and signed off. At no point will SSCM5 pressure or push client personnel to sign off on benefits that have failed to be realized or do not reflect the opportunity list originally presented to the client management team.

Fleeting or fading benefits are of no interest to SSCM5. They are the antithesis of our purpose and reason for being. Full client satisfaction is our ultimate measure of success.

Interim Management

Hospitals often need interim supply chain executive services. We recognize that while this is a routine service for us, it is not so ordinary for our clients. Accordingly we do whatever is necessary to overcome client anxiety. Our track record is to achieve above-average client satisfaction through the delivery of value that exceeds expectations during such engagements.

It is our standard practice that during the interim phase, in addition to offering management services, we perform a complete analysis of supply chain operations with a focus on process improvement using our proprietary S.P.A.C.E. model, deliver a written and clear roadmap to desired results, and then provide support and guidance, as needed, to the permanent executive. When the recruitment process takes longer than anticipated, or whenever requested by the client, we implement recommended changes. We are accustomed to being hands-on in an engagement. In every case we have saved our clients more money than the cost of the engagement. This makes the interim management engagement one of growth and progress instead of being a mere holding pattern.

Client assignments have included interim engagements that have run as long as 1 ½ years for a major turnaround operation to as brief as 3-4 months for an engagement with true temporary needs.

In every case we have improved the client’s underlying processes, while saving the client more money than the cost of the engagement – often with a return on investment that exceeds 12:1. Interim services can and should always pay for themselves – in multiples.

Further, when our identified process improvements are fully implemented, the savings continue – forever!

Recruiting assistance is available during the engagement. Note that SSCM5 maintains a talent bank of above-average candidates.

In addition to senior supply chain executives we provide interim services for contract and purchasing management. All interim engagements come with our exclusive ForeverYours telephone and e-mail support. This means that the eventual permanent placement has a robust support network to call upon when  implementing our programs at no additional costs to the client.

AP Recovery Audits

An Accounts Payable audit delivered through SSCM5 is client-focused.  Every audit includes a detailed analysis of the client's procurement and payment processes, with observations and recommendations to prevent losses from occurring in the future.

Client needs and culture are determined using a unique 7-step process:

  • a dedicated department converts data from any source
  • structured interviews and onsite physical investigation of the transaction flows
  • customized audit plan based on your climate, culture, constraints, and  considerations
  • partnering for quick and accurate results with ongoing management meetings
  • verification, imaging, and approval for full claims verification
  • Claims Administration – from back office to bottom line
  • A final report with a global perspective and a detailed discussion of the opportunities. The AP process is optimized

Fees are only paid for actual claims recovered. There is no cost to the client for any of these services. This process is the easiest method to recover assets unknown to the client.

Surplus Equipment Acquisition

Used Equipment: Trash or Asset?

SSCM5 Inc can link a client to the remanufactured equipment marketplace. The difficult task of liquidating surplus equipment is simplified since we do it for you.

Likewise we can supply a client with refurbished/remanufactured equipment. Our consultants will work with you in selecting the right equipment: both medical and non-medical.

Our market is international in scope giving us the ability to sell at top prices while also finding the bargains our clients seek.

Do not sit on a warehouse full of used equipment for a “just-in-case” tomorrow.  Idle equipment continues to depreciate and lose value.  Liquidate idle assets for the cash to reinvest into needed tools for today.

In some cases trades may be possible, where idle assets can be directly traded for today’s needs.

We invite you to contact us at contact@sscm5.com

Resume Bank

Are you a supply chain professional ready to take the next step? Do you have some or all of the following qualifications?

  1. Superior experience as a VP, Director or Assistant Director in a hospital setting
  2. Hold certification from a major supply chain association: ISM, APICS, or AHRMM
  3. Have a verifiable bachelors or advanced degree from an accredited university
  4. Three years or more of supply chain consulting experience

Strategic Supply Chain Management 5 Inc. frequently assists clients in locating and placing qualified individuals in executive level supply chain positions – often as a vice president or other Chief Supply Chain Officer title.  If you have above average qualifications and are interested in taking the next step into senior leadership or consulting, we invite you to submit your résumé to our talent bank.

Resumes are held in confidence. They are never submitted to a client or shared with any third parties without your further approval. When positions become available we contact the candidates that appear to best fit the client needs – again, in confidence – and given a summary of the position. Then you are given the choice to be considered for that position or remain in the bank for future consideration.

The advantage to early submission is that good positions often are filled before many potential candidates are even aware that they exist. This is usually because firms such as SSCM5 have proprietary methods to quickly identify candidates and put them in touch with the employers. Positions that are advertised in journals and papers are often the ones that are hard to fill for a variety of reasons.

Another key advantage is that all résumés submitted are reviewed upon receipt. With our decades of experience in reviewing the résumés of supply chain professionals and knowledge of client needs, we may make suggestions to improve its overall style and presentation, thus improving the likelihood of client acceptance. This is done at no charge to the applicant. The goal is to find a good match of qualifications to needs.

To submit a résumé send an e-mail with attachment to resume@sscm5.com.  Please indicate how you prefer to be contacted in the future. If you have any geographic restrictions, let us know them. Candidates specifically interested in consulting opportunities should so note in the text of the e-mail or cover letter.

Telecom Audits

Audit & Optimization

Recovering revenue lost through billing errors and optimizing your spending going forward, SSCM5 uses industry experts to reduce your annual voice, data, and wireless expenditures and return those dollars to your bottom line.

The telecommunications audit identifies historical overpayments and validates each claim, for which we then contact the carrier to recover the overpayment for you.  SSCM5 provides complete claim administration and a final report of our audit findings.  This report not only addresses all areas where money was recovered or future savings will be realized, but also any potential problems and procedural weaknesses that we observed.  These recommendations are industry proven and help solidify your processes and keep expenses to a minimum.

Next, SSCM5 performs a detailed analysis of the audit findings to optimize both expenses and service levels going forward.  As part of our telecommunication optimization services, we optimize voice, data, and other network services, review contracts, rates, and utilization to identify areas for enhancement, review current CPE to identify possible improvements, and review alternative suppliers, rates, and service packages.

SSCM5 cost-saving recommendations reduce annual expenditures and improve the quality of service from each carrier.  Many clients experience a reduction of at least 25% of their annual telecommunication expense after implementation of SSCM5 optimization results.

The following deliverables are guaranteed through SSCM5’s telecommunication audit and optimization services:

  • Validation and reconciliation of the appropriate use and rates for lines and services
  • Elimination of redundant or unnecessary circuits and services
  • Recovery of historical payment errors from your carriers
  • Analysis of the audit findings to identify optimization opportunities
  • Reducing costs by consolidating contracts and services
  • Improving carrier responsiveness by setting quality standards

Wireless and Cellular Account Management

SSCM5 offers a unique service for our clients.  We take the headache out of managing the wireless expense and allow you to concentrate on core business activities.

  • We make the diagnosis...
  • What are you paying today?
  • How does this compare -- and how can it be benchmarked?
  • Have you considered a new cost structure?
  • What is the best recommendation for optimization?
  • Do you have the right implementation team?
  • What methods are you using for ongoing optimization?
...and provide the cure to managing the wireless expense account:
  • Monthly invoice review:  Billing information is downloaded and compared; discrepancies resolved with each provider
  • Invoice allocation:  Each user assigned a cost center for management, allocation, and optimization
  • One stop shopping:  One process, one contact, and a help desk for everything
  • Reporting:  By cost center and exception
  • Access: SSCM5 assigns a relationship manager who guarantees technically sound and business relevant wireless solutions.

DME PROJECT MANAGEMENT

How much does your organization spend on DME products for patients in the Emergency Department, Physical Therapy, Inpatient Orthopedic Unit, and other areas? How much does your organization spend for custom braces and prosthesis? Considering reimbursement the answer is probably “way too much”.

How much of your organization’s labor is involved in tracking, ordering, receiving, handling and paying for these items? Considering their nature as overhead losses the answer is probably “way too much”.

SSCM5 has access to proprietary methods with the potential to bring your costs for these items to zero or next-to-zero. Yes – not just a percentage reduction, but an almost total elimination.  And in most cases we significantly improve the quality of delivered care. At worst case we maintain the current level of care.
